Every program LATO runs shares one principle: your money goes directly to the person who needs it. No administrative fees, no partner organizations, no overhead. Our volunteers purchase goods themselves and distribute them by hand.
Through our different programs and the sheer generosity of private donors, LATO has helped tens of thousands of people — from food and medicine to homes and education.

Help families become self-sufficient through the gift of farm animals. Created by LATO board member John Brobst and his wife Jeannette, this program gives impoverished families a living savings account — one that feeds them, generates income, and restores dignity.
Our most popular gift, the pig, even has a pay-it-forward model: when a family sells a pig for profit, the original donation amount is returned to LATO so another family can receive one.

For less than $2 a day, you can feed a child three daily meals and send them to school. Education is the single greatest path out of poverty — and LATO makes sure every dollar you give goes directly to that child's future.
Covers all tuition and school supply costs for one child.
Three meals a day, tuition, and all school supplies.
LATO identifies deserving students and conducts unannounced home visits to verify need.
You're matched with a child and receive their photo, address, and contact information.
Funds are disbursed monthly (not lump sum) and academic grades are monitored to ensure progress.
We ask sponsors to commit to at least one year. Many stay for years — becoming part of the family.

Your tax-deductible cash donation goes directly to rural areas of Vietnam for the purchase of food, medicine, clothing, and other essentials. LATO does not work with any other charity, group, or government in this effort.
We have no offices, no paid staff, and no brochures. Our volunteers — including Leyna Nguyen herself — personally travel to Vietnam to purchase and distribute every gift. When you donate to LATO, 100% reaches the people who need it.
We also provide humanitarian relief during natural disasters, and serve refugee families here in California.
Choose any program above, or make a general donation. All gifts are tax-deductible and 100% reach the families who need them most.
